IGLU-IOHE Andean Countries 2019 course begins

This Monday began the presence-based week of the program organized jointly by the ULagos and the Andean Countries Regional Center of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE).

With the keynote lecture “Contextualization of Higher Education in the Americas” offered by the international expert consultant in science, technology, innovation and competitiveness management, Jorge Yutronic Fernández, the face-to-face week of the Course of the Institute of University Management and Leadership, (IGLU-OUI) 2019, began at the Santiago Headquarters of the Universidad de Los Lagos.

The program is organized jointly for the fourth consecutive year between the ULagos and the Andean Countries Regional Center of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), an institution chaired by the Rector of this House of Studies, Óscar Garrido Álvarez.

For this version, 18 new Igluistas from national and foreign institutions participate, including Columbia University in Asunción, Paraguay; the Catholic University of Santa Maria, Arequipa, Peru; the Adventist University of Chile; the Metropolitan Technological University; the Los Lagos Professional Institute and the University of Los Lagos.

Patricia Romero Bustos, director of ICTs and distance education at Columbia Universityin Asunción, Paraguay, stressed that some directors of her institution had experience in the IGLU 2018 course at the Canadian headquarters, “and I decided to come here to Santiago. I have experience doing projects, so my biggest expectation is to carry out an innovative project that I apply in the university. As my base is technological, my project will go that way.”

Jorge Luis Caceres Arce, vice-rector of the Universidad Católica de Santa Maria, Peru, he emphasized that “we are very excited to receive this knowledge that activates us intellectually and puts us at the forefront of university development and that allows us to open horizons and perfect our ideas on what should become of university development”.

Graduation

The IGLU classroom week will continue until Friday, August 9, with lectures given by the Doctor of Law Sciences, Jorge Rojas Neira; the Doctor of Psychology and Education, Oscar Jerez Yanez; the Doctor of Biological Sciences, Daniel Lopez Stefoni; And the doctor and postdoc in governance and networks of higher education institutions and professor of the IGLU program since 2006, Luciano Rodriguez Marcelino.

Likewise, yesterday the graduation ceremony of the IGLU Andean Countries course for igluistas of 2017 and 2018 was held at the Santiago Headquarters.

The program will end on December 16 of this year after the Inter-American Virtual Weeks (September 6-9), the internships (to be held in Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia or Brazil) and the final delivery of the project on December 10.
