The National Accreditation Commission (NAC) after reviewing all the processes and analyzing each of the university components gave its verdict, which leaves the regional institution in advanced quality.

The community of academics, students and staff of the Universidad de Los Lagos is satisfied and proud because this Thursday the National Accreditation Commission granted 5 years of accreditation to the University, incorporating the area of research as a new accredited component: Institutional Management, Undergraduate Teaching, Linking with the Environment and Research, which was added from now on.

This decision reflects the result of a long road traveled by the University, of work, of improvements, of a solid project that is becoming more complex with quality and with the provision of highly qualified professionals.

Accreditation for 5 years puts the university in a space of advanced institutions, especially if it has an accredited research area, which demonstrates the work around solving and contributing to regional problems with knowledge, innovation and technology. The Universidad de Los Lagos has been able to grow and at the same time consolidate itself with a very robust and ambitious Institutional Development Plan to 2030.

“We are pleased to have been accredited in 5 years and in 4 components, including research, which allows us to consolidate the university project in the region, offering many opportunities to thousands of students in the territory and in southern Chile, and also, a university that generates research at the service of the region, addressing regional problems and phenomena. We are today the most consolidated university in the Región de Los Lagos and in the south of Chile”, said Rector Óscar Garrido.

For the Director of Management and Quality Assurance of the ULagos, Alexis Meza, this is a great achievement for the University and also for the state universities as a whole. “It places the Universidad de Los Lagos at an advanced university level, incorporating the area of research, which recognizes it as a complex university and that is a tremendous advance. To reach this result, this is a work of many years, very collaborative work of different teams, and is the reflection of a sustained policy of strengthening institutional management with a clear strategic development embodied in the PEDI (Institutional Development Plan) and that is configured in the context of a cohesive community and with clear purposes,”he said.
